Randy is one of those people who radiates hospitality. Within the first few minutes of talking to him you are drawn in by his infectious smile and friendly demeanor. You can see why so many others love him and seek his company.
Randy is a well respected member of his community. He has coached 100’s of local kids baseball and football. Prior to his injury Randy worked as a bus driver for kids living with special needs. He would pick them up at their house and get them safely to school. To all of these kids Randy wasn’t just their coach and bus driver. He was their friend. He listened to them tell their stories, offered advice and gave them hope when they were struggling. Randy embodies Team Humanity’s mission.
“Team Humanity is a place for the injured and non-injured to gather, connect, and support each other. We believe in the power of telling stories; sharing first hand accounts of injuries. Our goals are to bring a voice to the voiceless; to show light when there is darkness; and to provide hope for those who are suffering.”
Since 2015 Randy has also been known as, “Captain Randy”. His business specializes in cultural tours of Minneapolis that feature our rich history of musicians and artists in the land of 10,000 lakes. One of his most popular tours is The Prince Tour. This tour is based on the classic 80’s movie Purple Rain. It includes stops in the neighborhood where Prince grew up, the Electric Fetus Record store, and First Avenue-the iconic music venue.
Randy led a very healthy lifestyle before his vaccine. He was always active coaching sports, golfing, biking and fishing. He loved spending time outside.
In August of 2021 Randy chose to receive the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. He felt like it was his duty to get vaccinated to protect the students he drove to school each day. Unfortunately, 2 weeks after his first and only vaccine his body had a major reaction. He developed bilateral burning pain inside his joints. It started with his knees and progressed quickly into his hips and lower back. Randy became bedridden and depended on a cane to walk around his house. He had to retire from his school transportation job because his body physically couldn’t do the work. He was devastated, but knew that he couldn’t lift the kids into their seats nor assist them off of the bus into school.
Randy’s vaccine injury didn’t just affect him; it affected his students who counted on him each and every school day. When interviewed Randy shared his heartbreak over having to quit his job. He is frustrated because he feels that so many people fail to understand the ripple effect of a vaccine injury. Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, caregivers, students, athletes, and co-workers are also afflicted by a vaccine injury.
One local news channel, Alpha News, is reporting on our Team Humanity stories and sharing these losses, injustices and heartache. Here is a link to Randy’s story.

Randy is not giving up on life.
He has found a physician that is helping him reduce the rampant inflammation in his body and relieve some of his pain.
Randy is also starting a new tour in Minneapolis next year. He recently purchased amphibious vehicles that can travel both on land and water. They are called Hydro Hippos and are perfect for Minnesota’s 44,926 miles of shoreline.

Dear Randy:
Thank you SO MUCH for all you did for the children. Wishing you healing and justice.
Randy, thank you for your service to our kids. I am so sorry they are missing out on having an adult who knows them and wants to serve, especially in these times where we all need a little more kindness in our lives. And as a life long Prince fan, thank you for showing off the culture of MN music and honoring his Purple Reign.
