Team Humanity is a place for the injured, bereaved and non-injured to gather, connect, and support each other. We believe in the power of telling stories; and sharing first hand accounts of injuries and deaths caused by the Covid vaccines. Our goals are to bring a voice to the voiceless; to show light when there is darkness; and to provide hope for those who are suffering.
Team Humanity was started by founding member Suzanna Newell. Suzanna was injured after her second Covid vaccine in April of 2021. While she was preparing for a speech at the Minnesota capitol in November of 2021 about her injury it occurred to her that vaccine injuries are not and should not be a political issue-they are a human issue. Team Humanity doesn’t align with blue or red politics. Team Humanity’s logo is a purple heart. Purple is the intersection of red and blue; where all people come together to support those who have been injured, suffered trauma during the last 3 years, or lost a loved one. Our goal is to bring people together from all walks of life around one central theme: heartfelt compassion.
Here is a link to Suzanna’s Minnesota capitol speech and her Team Humanity story.
Team Humanity believes that we need to acknowledge that these “rare” injuries and deaths from the Covid vaccines happened to “real” people. Real people who had a life, a life filled with travel, work, friends, and loved ones. A life outside of their house, their bed and their pain.
This is why Team Humanity is sharing these stories. Somehow in the midst of all that has happened in the last few years people who have been injured or died have become “acceptable collateral damage”. When did this become ok? How is this ok?
Team Humanity believes that we are called to speak for the weak and the voiceless. We are called to tell our stories, gather those who are struggling, and offer them hope and help. We are called to pull those who are stuck in the shadows and darkness into the light.
Many Minnesotans who are not injured have stepped up, answered the call to help the vaccine injured and the families who lost a loved one from the Covid vaccine. Our volunteers first and foremost support the injured and bereaved families. We check in with them and listen to their stories and struggles. We advocate for them and connect them with podcasters and reporters who are willing to share their stories. We assisted with the premier of the movie Anecdotals in Minnesota and Wisconsin. We have attended legislative meetings and rallies with the injured and bereaved. This summer a group of us is participating in the YWCA triathlon in support of our Team Humanity friends.

We have published 14 stories on our Substack and have so many more to share; and need your help sharing them.
Darlene’s Story:
Team Humanity would like to introduce you to Darlene and her family. Darlene passed away in June of 2022 due to complications from her second Covid booster. Her husband, Ken, of nearly 60 years, her daughters, son-in-laws, and 6 grandchildren suffered an incredible loss.
Darlene was a healthy 82 year old who continued to live a very full life before her 2nd booster. Her family describes her as, “funny, youthful, and the glue of her family.” Darlene always had her hands busy. She loved to needlepoint, sew, play cards, decorate, cook, and go shopping. Every Christmas she made 20 different types of Christmas cookies; including a few Minnesota favorites like krumkake and spritz. She was also Ken’s primary caregiver. Ken has struggled with dementia for the past few years.
Darlene adored her grandchildren and included them in her life and was very much a part of their lives. She spent countless hours watching them dance and play sports. She hosted them at her house for meals, card nights and cooking lessons. Last year she taught her granddaughter, Lilly, how to make their family’s famous flat bread recipe and gifted her her prized rolling pin.
Leanne and Susan, two of Darlene’s daughters, shared their story with Team Humanity and with the national Covid vaccine injury and bereaved organization React19 (www.React19.org).
Leanne and Susan’s autobiography found on the React19 bereaved website page outlines what happened to Darlene. Her story was published in January of 2023.
Darlene was feeling healthy and strong until she received her second booster on May 17th, 2022 at her well check appointment with her primary care physician. The morning after her shot Darlene felt ill with a fever and fatigue. 7 days later Darlene could hardly make it through an appointment with her hairdresser due to shortness of breath, confusion, coughing and pain in her upper back. On the 25th of May she entered the hospital and never returned.
Susan and Leanne share what happened in their React19 autobiography:
“My mother died 7 months ago, just 2.5 weeks after receiving her 2nd COVID-19 booster shot. The death certificate lists pneumonia as the cause of death for my mom, but the doctor explained that he used that diagnosis on her death certificate because there isn’t an ICD-10 diagnosis code for what caused her death; it was an adverse immune response to her 2nd COVID-19 booster shot, which he was able to include in ‘other contributing conditions’ on the death certificate.
My mom felt ill, like many people, the day after the shot, but didn’t bounce back fully, like most people, on day 3. She went on with her usual activities, called her doctor later in the week because she had some upper back pain, but thought it was stress-related and didn’t let it stop her. She had increasing difficulty breathing a week later and I brought her to the emergency room after she had barely managed to go out and get her hair cut! She was admitted to the hospital due to her need for oxygen and abnormal pulse, moved to ICU the following day due to increasing needs for oxygen, eventually requiring a ventilator after a week in the ICU. She had a heart attack after a day on the ventilator and we knew she wasn’t going to pull through; she died shortly after the device was removed. While on the ventilator, secretions taken from her lungs were bloody and appeared to have lung tissue in them. She was tested for COVID-19 twice while in the hospital because her lungs had that signature appearance to the doctors. Both of the COVID-19 tests came back negative. She was tested for various other atypical pneumonias via the lab, but all those tests were negative as well. She didn’t have fungal or bacterial pneumonia; her white blood cell count was not elevated, and antibiotics and steroid treatments didn’t seem to help.
After using the process of elimination, the Pulmonologists informed us that she had experienced an adverse immune response to the COVID-19 booster shot.”
Darlene’s family hosted a celebration of life. You can see by the pictures displayed at her service how much her family loved Darlene and how much she would be missed.
Susan and Leanne can not bring their mom back, but they can advocate for others who are in similar situations.
Their goals include:
They believe that hospitals should follow through on being mandatory reporters to the VAERS system. The VAERS system is the national vaccine safety surveillance system. The hospital where Darlene passed away did not report her death to VAERS. Families who have lost a loved one, or are taking care of someone who has been injured should not have the added burden of reporting the death or injury to VAERS. Without these reports patients are not aware of the adverse events that can happen.
They believe that Medicare should acknowledge all of the deaths and injuries and analyze this data. Had Darlene’s family known what could happen after Darlene’s booster shot they might have chosen to wait and take more time to do their own research and ask the doctor more questions.
Team Humanity has also connected with the independent news organization, Alpha News. Here is a link to Darlene’s story that was published in December of 2022.

Darlene is one grandmother, mother and wife who did the right thing. As more data comes out, we know that the spike protein is cumulative and in some cases can cause illness and even death. Thank you for sharing Darlene's story and caring for her family as they grieve.
